Wild Introductions

Finally got do to a little solo animal care this morning, but it was just feeding the peccaries. Paige made cinnamon banana pancakes for breakfast, which were delicious. Twiggy came back this morning for her bottle, but didn’t want to go back out right away since she’d been in all night. Around 10 we took her back out to the island and let her graze the sea grass for a couple hours while we picked some sea grass. It was a sunny day, so a I got a little burnt but it’s about time I got some color! We started to head back in for lunch, but about half of the way back we lost Twiggy. We had slowed down for her to catch up but when we started off again she was gone. We spent about twenty minutes looking for her, but we couldn’t find her anywhere. We decided we would look for her again after lunch. After lunch, I helped cut up fruit and then got to meet all the monkeys. There are six howler monkeys and two spider monkeys. Five were just released at Fireburn, Wildtracks release site for their monkeys. Three howler monkeys were recently moved into a pre-release enclosure and will be released next May. The search for Twiggy resumed, but they had no luck and she may stay out for the night again. Duke hasn’t been eating any of sea grass recently, but Paul is coming back tonight so we’ll tube feed him tomorrow. I also got to meet the baby margay, Diego. He is an adorable little kitten! He was rescued by the police and was bottle fed for a few weeks, but now that he’s 9 weeks old he has a large enclosure and gets fed cat food and baby quails. We’re hoping to catch a few geckos so he can learn to hunt.
